Dan Cash is a mechanical engineer with interests in design, research and education. Following studies at Cambridge University, Dan has spent 10 years as a consultant with companies including Buro Happold and Max Fordham LLP, working across a range of projects. Developing a specialism in the refurbishment of existing buildings has driven a particular interest in how we make our future building stock more adaptable. His current area of research focus is the interfaces between components in a design - and how advanced techniques and automation might change the way we realise projects, in particular in the context of optimising the operation of systems. He is interested in the potential for AI and automation to be applied in ways that makes buildings highly sustainable, accessible and enjoyable to use.
