Tim has been actively involved in the investigation, communication, and delivery of building services engineering solutions for over 35 years. Having worked as an engineering designer in the healthcare sector the following 26 years were spent designing, delivering and managing Building Services courses at London’s South Bank University (née Poly). He maintained strong and active industrial links throughout this period. His technical areas of course development and delivery range from the specification of the internal environment through the optimisation of building form to the evaluation and development of holistic active and passive building systems to improve lifecycle performance. He is an active member of CIBSE where he serves on various committees, is the CIBSE Journal Technical Editor, BSER&T Managing Editor, a past ASHRAE Director at Large, currently serves on ASHRAE’s Professional Development Committee and is on the editorial panels of international journals, as well as being a technical consultant and lecturer to CIBSE, other institutions and industry groups. He has published hundreds of technical articles and organised/chaired/presented hundreds of technical meetings around the world. He is visiting Professor in Building Services Systems at UCL, London where he acts as an adviser and lectures and develops programmes associated with ‘building services engineering’ as an integral part of the whole building system.
