Thank you for agreeing to chair one or more sessions at Build2Perform Live 2018. We look forward to a rich, dynamic two-day programme.

Below is a list of information prepared and instructed to help you be ready and chair your session(s). Please take the time to read through each element prior to attending the event.

On arrival

The Olympia London entrance on Hammersmith Road will be open to visitors and speakers from 09.00. The show floor is on level 2.

Morning speakers and session chairs are requested to arrive at the Speaker Lounge by 09.00; afternoon speakers and session chairs by 13.00.

 

IMPORTANT

Please come and meet us in the Speaker Lounge so we can register your arrival, and introduce you to fellow speakers.

We request that speakers and session chairs arrive at their assigned theatre 20 minutes before the first theatre session “in the run” starts (i.e. the start of the day, the start of the afternoon, or after the morning/afternoon break). We will test your mic and make sure everything you need is working.

Registration and Badges

The CIBSE conference team will register you to attend the event. Please collect your speaker badge from the registration desk as you enter the building. Please let the team on the registration desk know that you are a speaker so that they can find your details quickly.

Your role as chair 

As the chair, please open your session(s) with a few words to set the scene and introduce your session speakers using their short biographies we have provided on the event website [page to be released once the programme is live].

We are looking for sessions to be as dynamic as possible, so please ensure that speakers keep to the time they have been allocated to enable good time for Q&A and comments from the audience.

Please let the audience know at the outset that we are encouraging their participation by means of questions and comments at the appropriate time.  Please ask that delegates use the roving mics provided.

We will run to the speaking order on the event website, and by email, speakers will have agreed their timings.

Throughout the programme planning we have been careful to highlight the need for speakers to focus on the “takeaways” for delegates attending their session. It’s important these are teased out. Please therefore could you frame your questions to the speakers around those takeaways – what can delegates be doing differently when they get back to their desks?

By mid-September, speakers and chairs will have been introduced to each other by email. Those introductions will have been made by session.  Please touch base with them before the event. It’s also a good idea to arrange for all of you to meet in person before your session on the day. The Speaker Lounge is at your disposal for this purpose.

The Speaker Lounge will serve tea & coffee for speakers & session chairs (only). 

Your session

Helen Blantz will already have confirmed with you:

  • times & date of your session
  • marketing copy for the programme (session/ presentation titles and key take aways for delegates)
  • your name / job title/ company
  • your session format/ speaking order/ duration of all the presentations, including allocation of time for Q&A.


Should you require any changes to the online programme, Helen has immediate access to be able to make those changes quickly.

Speaker presentations

We are aiming for a pacey, dynamic feel for the information programme. We have asked that speakers use their slides as an opportunity to frame their speech – more visuals and fewer words create a bigger impact.

Each theatre will be equipped with:

  • lectern and lectern mic
  • laptop at lectern
  • table mics on the “top table” for panel sessions
  • audience roving mics (manned) - in appropriate theatres

Provision of slides for delegates after the show

We would like to share presentations with attendees after the event. We have asked speakers to fill in a permission form, in which case presentations will be made available to attending attendees where permissions have been granted.
