Meet Sara Kassam
Whether you are familiar with our sector-leading quality of content, drawn on the knowledge and experience of our community of expert speakers, or are new to the #Build2Perform experience, hear from CIBSE's Head of Sustainability Development, Sara Kassam, explain what will await you on 26 and 27 November at London's Olympia.
We managed to catch up with Sara between her chairing of the much anticipated Technical Symposium Debate and reviewing upcoming knowledge on green infrastructure as a building service.
Hi, I am Sara Kassam. This year, I’m managing the technical programme for CIBSE’s Build2Perform Live taking place in November, a responsibility which is both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure. CIBSE Build2Perform Live is a huge annual event for practitioners in the built environment who want to be at the forefront of delivering safe, productive and healthy buildings. It brings people together to learn about, discuss and collaborate on the current issues that are important in delivering better building performance, gaining the knowledge and motivation they need to improve the performance of buildings throughout their whole lifecycle.
I’ve delved deep into the varied and wonderful world of CIBSE, drawing on the vast expertise of our special interest groups, societies and networks to produce a programme that should inspire and stimulate. Assisted by an expert Advisory Board, a mix of detailed technical presentations, case studies, workshops and panel debates has been carefully curated under the following themes:
1. Climate impact
2. Systems thinking and integration
4. Health, well-being and productivity
5. Energy: decarbonisation and storage
6. Modular and offsite construction
7. Retrofit and refurbishment
8. People, competence and skills
Our aim behind creating this year's brand new, theme-driven approach to programme development, is for you to go away with solid information that you can act on, making the day or two out of the office more than worthwhile and there being plenty to appeal to everyone, whatever your role is in a building life cycle.
From the latest developments in automation and electric buildings, to practical ways to mitigate overheating and new energy benchmarking tools, our programme is rich and varied.
Among numerous new additions this year, is the People, Competence and Skills theme, which I’m particularly excited about; additionally, there will be soft skills workshops, discussions on competence in a post-Hackitt world and an opportunity to hear from our rising star graduates of the year.
I’ve been keen to encourage diverse voices from a range of backgrounds to speak; people from different professions, in different stages of their careers, different specialisms and those with different experiences to share. All will contribute to the event’s core of building performance, and help to create a space fizzing with all possible aspects of the subject.
I’m very much looking forward to this year’s CIBSE Build2Perform Live 2019 and hope to see you at Kensington Olympia in November. Secure your place today free of charge.
