David is Group Director of HSE for Rolls-Royce where he is responsible for leading the Global Health Safety and Environment Function. Previous roles in HSE and occupational medicine were with Rio Tinto (mining) and GlaxoSmithKline (pharmaceuticals). His current focus at Rolls-Royce is transformation and integration of the HS&E, Sustainability and Occupational Health functions as well as embedding workforce wellbeing as an enabler to enhance productivity, innovation and performance.

David graduated from medical school in South Africa and completed postgraduate specialist training in Australia and the UK. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational where he serves on the Board as Acting Registrar and a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He also holds a law degree from Cardiff University. His special interests include medical law, occupational mental health and the relationship between health and employee engagement.
