David has worked for English Heritage, now Historic England since 1998, joining as a Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in the then M&E Team. At the end of 2005 with the retirement of the then Chief Engineer  was appointed Head of the Building Services Engineering & Safety Team. With the renaming in 2015 of English Heritage to Historic England and restricting was appointed as the Head of Building Services and Emergency Planning. In addition to the general management of the team which comprise specialist Professional Building Services Engineers, Fire and Emergency Planning advisers, my work involves providing advice and guidance for the application of building services and increasingly the environmental and sustainable development issues and their relationship and impact on our historic buildings,  interiors and structures.

Prior to joining English Heritage I worked for a number of organisations both large and small in both the private and public sector including both consultants, contractors as well as London Transport and the Rank Organisation.
