Associate Director, Sustainable Places and Energy Team

Barny leads WSP’s Sustainable Places, Waste and Energy team advising developers, policy makers and investors. He has over 12 years’ experience working in the area of energy and sustainability and has provided or led many successful sustainability and energy strategies for new and refurbishment developments in the UK including new build prison, individual dwellings and large redevelopments. He is a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, and certified Measurement and Verification Professional (C-MVP)

He has good experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in sustainability, waste and energy, co-ordinating with and other specialists to deliver ambitions that are achievable and holistic. He has particularly good experience of large scale developments and understands the inter-disciplinary and organisational complexities this can bring. He is very knowledgeable with regard to energy policy and Building Regulations and the latest technologies, emphasised by his work providing technical due diligence for investors but also of the other disciplines that lead into successful, integrated and sustainable developments.

His technical advice on energy and waste projects and investments has included the full gamut of renewable energy and energy efficiency, including, solar, biomass, LED lighting, heat pumps, wind, CHP, insulation and replacement pumps. He has undertaken measurement and verification, technical due diligence or feasibility studies on hundreds of millions of pounds of successful investment for a range of asset management and investment clients such as the Green Investment Bank.
