Economics Director

Allan has over twenty-five years of experience analysing and forecasting the UK construction industry. Since joining Glenigan, Allan has headed the development of its market intelligence service, providing clients with regularly updated on-line comment and analysis on the construction industry, including sector and regional market conditions and prospects. The strategic research draws upon detailed analysis of Glenigan’s database of planned and active construction projects as well as other economic and market data sources.

The team also undertakes bespoke quantitative and qualitative analysis for clients, including market size, analysis & forecasts, product demand and customer surveys.

In addition his team is responsible for the collection and publication of the Construction Industry KPIs. The KPIs have been collected since 1999 and provide an annual benchmark of the industry’s performance against a range of economic, social and environmental measures. The latest annual report, published in the Autumn 2015 provides a valuable assessment of how the industry has been responding to the challenges accompanying the recent upturn in workload as it has emerge from recession.

Allan also regularly provides comment and analysis to a wide range of organisations and publications including the Home Builders Federation, BuildUK, Construction News, Architects Journal and the Grocer.

Allan was previously Economics Director at the Construction Products Association with responsibility for all economic aspects of the Association’s activities.
