TB3 Case study: What benefits has the Co-operative seen in putting good building performance at the heart of their HQ design brief?

12:00 - 12:20

The Co-Op HQ building in Manchester, One Angel Square, was designed with building performance being a key driver. The benefits on maintenance and operational costs are essential given the nature of the organisation, but shouldn’t all organisations look to minimise financial waste as well as minimising carbon emissions? The systems installed, feature natural ventilation through earth tubes, an atrium used for the stack effect with high level vents in the roof over the atrium. The use of daylighting in maximised and mechanical cooling is provided only for the hottest days.
